The Kumamoto Prefecture announced that the Kiyama River has overflowed near the Shinokawa Bridge in the town of Mashiki. The local authorities are urging residents to evacuate and take necessary safety precautions.

The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a ‘Significant Heavy Rainfall’ warning for Kumamoto Prefecture due to the influence of an active front. A linear rain band has formed, causing extremely heavy rain in the same area. The agency warns of the potential for landslides, flooding, and other disasters in Kyushu and advises residents to ensure their safety.

Moving on, it has been two years since the devastating landslide in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture. However, the reconstruction efforts have been slow, and many affected residents are still unable to rebuild their lives due to the unstable embankments along the river.

Lastly, evacuation orders have been issued in Oguni Town, Kumamoto Prefecture. The entire town, consisting of 3,013 households and 6,502 people, has been instructed to evacuate due to the potential risk of landslides and other disasters.
