Hello and welcome to today’s news from Japan Daily News on July 5th, 2024. In our first news story, train service on the Keio Line has resumed between Chofu Station and Keio Tama Center Station. The service had been suspended due to a personal accident at Wakabadai Station in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The suspension was lifted at 8:58 AM this morning.
Moving on to our next story, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has released the results of the May Household Spending Survey. The survey reveals that the amount of money spent by households with two or more people decreased by 1.8% in real terms compared to the same month last year. This marks a decrease for the second consecutive month, with an average household spending of 293,280 yen.
In other news, a 64-year-old man has been arrested in Chiba Prefecture’s Tsukiyono Village for leaving the body of his father, believed to be deceased, at their home.
Meanwhile, in Saitama Prefecture’s Kawaguchi City, a robbery took place at a precious metals buying store. An unidentified man entered the store’s back area and threatened an employee with a knife-like object, making off with a pouch containing approximately 320,000 yen in cash. The employee was unharmed, and the police are currently investigating the incident as a robbery.
Back to transportation news, the Keio Line is experiencing another disruption. Due to a personal accident at Wakabadai Station in Kawasaki City, train service between Chofu Station and Keio Tama Center Station has been suspended on both the up and down lines. Service is expected to resume at around 8:40 AM.
In Yokohama, a 50-year-old man has been arrested for assaulting his 85-year-old mother, causing her injuries. The mother has been confirmed dead, and the police are conducting a detailed investigation, including determining the cause of death.
In a separate incident in Chiba Prefecture’s Chosei Village, a 77-year-old father has been arrested for attempting to strangle his son to death by using a cord. The son later died, and the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. And now for the weather.
