First, Typhoon 7 is approaching the Kanto region, bringing strong winds and heavy rain. The typhoon is currently moving northward, affecting the southern part of the Izu Islands. As it continues its path, Chiba Prefecture is expected to enter the typhoon’s wind zone around midday. In the Kanto region, the wind and rain are intensifying rapidly, posing a risk of flying signs, overturned trucks, and the formation of rain bands, which could lead to flooding and landslides. Even without a direct landfall, it is advised to avoid unnecessary outings and stay in safe places.

In other news, due to the impact of Typhoon 7, the Tokaido Shinkansen will be suspended all day between Tokyo and Nagoya. Some trains on the Tohoku Shinkansen will also be canceled starting around 11 a.m. Additionally, several trains on the Shonan-Shinjuku Line and other local lines in the Tokyo metropolitan area are not operating. Furthermore, over 600 domestic and international flights departing from or arriving at Haneda and Narita airports have been canceled.

Moving on, the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line is currently suspending operations on the entire line for a vehicle inspection. It is expected to resume service around 9 a.m.

In the Kanto region, approximately 1,700 households are currently experiencing power outages. Tokyo Electric Power Grid reports that as of 8 a.m., there are power outages in various areas of the Kanto region.

As the typhoon approaches, evacuation centers have been set up in multiple locations in Chiba Prefecture, including 16 shelters in Mobara City.

Lastly, due to the typhoon, evacuation information for elderly and disabled individuals has been issued in Chiba’s Tateyama City, Kamogawa City, and Ohtaki Town. These areas have announced Level 3 alerts, urging elderly and physically impaired residents to start evacuating.
